This is Not a Food Blog

Food is a huge part of my life. I read nutrition books for fun and most of my social life centres around a feast of some sort. Generally, I work hard to eat well because junk food makes me grouchy, lethargic and miserable. I wish I could eat my body weight in giant chocolate buttons and still feel on top of the world but, unfortunately, I can't.

Playing around on my iPhone recently I decided to record my lunch for each day of my five day work week. Whilst this will never be a food blog (I'm pretty sure nobody who thinks it's perfectly OK to polish off a burger this big should be a food blogger) I thought you guys might find it vaguely intriguing to take a look.

Sometimes, if I'm working from home and the sun is shining, I sit outside with a cup of tea and eat a lunch of wholemeal toast with lashings of strawberry jam. No vegetables, no fruit, no protein and few vitamins to speak of. Because, lets face it, a little bit of what you fancy does you good. Told you I wouldn't make a good food blogger.

It's so easy to get stuck in a food rut so please drop me a comment and tell me what you eat for lunch at work or school - I'd love to hear some new ideas!

  1. My gosh! Looks amazing. Today I just had a chicken burrito with some chilli flakes, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. It was really nice though! :)

  3. You have such lovely looking lunches! SO jealous!

The only thing consistent about my food is my weekly Graze box habit!

  5. Such a good idea, a great way to find new things to make. I always struggle with what to each for lunch, I find sandwiches too boring to eat every day :) xx

  6. Ahh, now I'm hungry.
The little pots are adorable, and I assume help with portion control (something I have a problem with haha)

  7. I need to take a leap out of your book, I need to eat healthier to get back to teh healthy weight I was, and all this food looks lovely.
After payday i'm going to invest in one of those lunchboxes which will hopefully help things along.

    Thanks for the start :)

  13. I recognise those! Did you get them from easylunchboxes.com? I have the same and they are a lifesaver! They're so good for trading in boring old sarnies for tasty, super healthy and interesting food! I'm completely in love with a recent potato salad recipe I've found and have pretty much been eating that with chicken or a side of pasta every day! So tasty and good for you.

  17. I am in total envy of your tupperware, I will be hopping over to that lunchbox website pronto! Love the look of your meals too, it can be difficult to make sure you are well balanced every day and still add variety I find when you have to make the effort to prepare it every night but it looks like you have done well! xo

  18. Wow your lunches look yummy! I love the variety. I'm very boring when it comes to eating, but I like to think I'm pretty healthy. I eat a turkey sandwich with cheese, spinach, and tomato along with an apply everyday for lunch. I'm just not very creative with my food, but this post has inspired me to try to switch it up :)

  36. You have such beautiful lunches! I'm far too lazy about packing food for lunch, and it usually ends up being a salad that I've thrown together. Nothing as elegantly prepared as yours! It is something for me to work towards.

I mostly just have a very simple sandwich and keep breakfast and dinner for my fruits and veggies, but it makes sense to incorporate those into my lunch as well.

  41. Great comments!! For all who asked -

The lunchbox is by easylunchboxes.com and I bought mine from Amazon UK. I bought this pack of four which my boyf and I both use:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Easylunchboxes-Single-Compartment-Lunch-Boxes/dp/B004S129AQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313672907&sr=8-1

(not sure why there is a bad review on there as we think they're awesome!) Also consider that you get FOUR for £15.99 so each one is £4 - similar to most other boxes on the market.

    Hope that helps!

I am offically living on my own for the first time starting in september (i lived in rez for 3 years) and am so worried about how I am going to eat well. I have the BIGGEST sweet tooth in the world. I hope I am half as healthy as those lunches look.
