Laura Mercier SPF 15 Lip Balm

On Saturday I lost my mind for a moment. I spent £17 on a lip balm.

Yep, you heard me right. £17 for a lip balm courtesy of Laura Mercier (at Harvey Nichols, Manchester). The heating system at work has been drying my lips out something chronic. I know I could have purchased any old drugstore chapstick but was keen to own something that really performs. I'm not sure what led me to Laura Mercier. I was already a fan of the brand - the foundation primer rocks - but hadn't taken a look at their offering for quite some time. I must have read about this product somewhere sometime and stored it in my memory. It wasn't until the counter assistant scanned the item and asked for my debit card that I realised just how pricey lovely lips are. And boy did I gulp.

Aside from the obviously steep price point this is one of those things that just works. Really works. It leaves lips completely hydrated, with a subtle sheen. It adds a touch of much needed colour to my lips, whilst still remaining somewhat natural. The SPF 15 is a big plus too. A true delight to use - perfect for when I don't want to look like I've tried too hard. Oh, that will be everyday then :)

The one drawback - I'm kinda very nervous that I'll lose it; like I lose most small possessions at one time or another. No lip balm has ever made me feel nervous before. Not good.

In other news: Groupon (awesome!) is offering a £30 spend at The Body Shop for only £12 - hurry though as the offer ends at midnight tonight. Enjoy!

  1. Sounds like good stuff! I would justify buying expensive lip balm because I use it all the time. Some expensive products I buy just sit in my drawer but with this I know I will put it to good use. xo

  4. I know what you mean about losing stuff - I'm hopeless so I think I'll stick to carmex until there's some tracking device to help find lost lipbalms and compact mirrors (for some reason I go through these like tissues! I'm awful!) xo

  7. Generic/Drugstore brands that I use (non-tinted) are Blistex and Vaseline. When my lips are super chapped, peeling and dry, I use either of those and it heels overnight.

  13. This happens to me so many times at airports! I don't know why my head doesn't get it but the money I spend on the airport is still *real* money! I always tend to browse the aiport luxury shop and look at make up and somehow I always end up buying something I don't really need , like Dior foundation for , gulp, 25 quid! And considering I'm flying every two weeks or so, this is really bad for my bank balance! Oh why is quality make up soo expensive?! I like the LM lipbalm though, your description made me want to buy it now haha! Must control myself!
