Trip To Ikea

It's Thursday, of course, and admittedly I should have a post planned for 'Things I love Thursday' but since returning from my hiatus I've not yet fallen back into a proper blogging routine. Instead, I thought I'd talk about our trip to Ikea during the Christmas break. Exciting stuff, huh?!

I was so sleepy (after enjoying the holiday season a little too much) that I was initially distracted by the Ikea bedroom set-ups. they looked so, so inviting. Occasionally Ikea makes bed linen that I truly love. over the years I've had many a duvet set from here - I just wish the quality was a little better. I like the simplicity of this sky blue set and isn't this print interesting?

{ Excuse the iPhone photo quality! }

Some of you might be surprised to learn that I currently store my clothing on a clothing rail. My boyfriend keeps insisting that I purchase a wardrobe - I think he may be a touch OCD over clean lines and organisation. As much as I've talked about my love of vintage and shabby chic interiors, we both fell in love with the simplicity of this huge white unit with sliding doors (£395 - can't see it on the web site). It has tons of space; the sliding doors are great in a small room like mine and the colour and style means it would blend seamlessly with the white walls. Unfortunately, the price is a little hard to swallow.

The main purpose for the trip was to find some bathroom storage. I have none. Nada. We instantly knew the Godmorgon 1 door wall cabinet - in high gloss white - was for us (I paid £69 prior to the VAT increase). I have a space above the toilet (next to the sink) and high ceilings - this cabinet will fit beautifully there and make full use of the height of the room. Yes, it's very modern. And yes, my interior design style does appear to be flitting from shabby to minimalistic.

Not entirely sure how many of my products will fit on those four glass shelves but I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun finding out. The cabinet will be put up next week so check back to see how I get on! Finally, a few personal home interior posts will be making their way onto the blog. It's been a long time coming considering I moved into my flat in October :)

And a few more things I loved...

Grundtal stainless steel wall shelf - £19.39 - looks far more expensive than it is and I love the idea of display shelving in the bathroom. I have some cute jars and bottles which would sit well on this. Shame I can't find an obvious spot in my bathroom for it.

Bottles. lots of bottles. I really do have an unusual fascination with bottles!

Along with white, Teal is one of my favourite colours for the home. These towels may well come home with me one day.

...

What now? Follow me on twitter and bloglovin' or leave me a comment! Would you pay £395 for a wardrobe? What type of products would you store in my new bathroom cabinet?

Psstt... I feel a give-away coming along soon. Watch this space!

  5. Yes' I'd pay that much for a wardrobe...infact they're similar to ones I'm looking at for when I move out.

They are on their website, you have to go to the bedroom section and clck on bedroom storage and customizable wardrobes

its part of the PAX system so you can customise pretty much everything BUT it does crank up the price considerably!.
I am an IKEA geek its my ultimate design porn :-)

  12. I am saving up for a dream wardrobe, it will take me another year (fact) as I'm not working at the moment and only get tax credit and my bloke gives me a little. I know that this sounds insane BUT if I have the perfect wardrobe it would transform my life (sad, but true) I have so much that half my stuff is in cardboard boxes or in piles. Our wardrobe is horrid and is bulky and just depressing, like you I would love an Ikea sleek one. It opens up your space and clears your mind, instead of me having to rack through things to find anything and have my accessories spilling out of draws.
It would be like going shopping almost, I studied Interiors and have worked in retail so have always been surround by beautiful organised clothing and it is deeply upsetting that our room is a heap :(
Once I have enough I know that I will be more chilled rather than stressing that I have nothing to wear. Space has a huge impact on you and affect's you on a daily basis, so who doesn't want the perfect home :)

I was drooling at these photos BTW haha I may just go live in their showroom :) haha

  16. I loved that Ikea wardrobe too! We ended up making our own sliding wardrobes, building the shelves, hanging rails etc then using mirrored white doors from B&Q. It is great, and only a fraction of the price!

  23. i love ikea!! luckily there's one in one of the cities i live in so i can just pop in and have a browse whenever!

i think it's probably worth forking out a bit for a wadrobe, cheap ones DO fall apart! and the spacial organizers in the more expensive ones save a lifetime of tidying up! i agree with your white choice, means it will fit in if you ever decide to change your colour scheme etc :) xx
