Storage Solutions: My Bathroom Cabinet

Remember when I posted about our recent trip to Ikea? we came home with the Godmorgon bathroom cabinet and it was installed last week. The moment I saw it fixed on the wall I literally squealed with delight and did a happy dance in the hallway. Three months of life with my products in a cardboard box in the hall cupboard has not been good for the soul.

I thrive on organisation so this little addition to my bathroom put me on cloud nine.

It's a seamless design with a high gloss finish and fits perfectly in a huge space above the toilet (which is just to the left of the sink). Although I'm pleased with the amount of storage space it offers I still had to be ruthless and throw out several half empty bottles. It was a good exercise in deciding which products i really value and want to use over the coming year.

And here's a quick rundown of the products that made the cut...

Body lotions and oils adorn the top shelf, with a stock of body butters below. I'm still using Vaseline Sheer Infusion body lotion and The Body Shop coconut body butter - both of which were reviewed as part of my current bodycare routine.

The Charles Worthington take-aways were gifted as part of my christmas stocking. I'm looking forward to a trip away so i can make use of them. The Body Shop seaweed face mask can be seen on the right.

The next shelf down is a random mix of skincare, including some of my favourite products - Z-Silc sun protection cream, Philosophy 'The Great Mystery', The Body Shop seaweed clarifying toner and Botanics eye make up remover.

The glass jars that store my cotton wool pads and buds started life as Douwe Egberts coffee pots, which are sold in all major supermarkets for around £3. I threw away the lids and soaked the labels off in hot soapy water. I have another one of these to hold my pencils (eyeliner, brow pencil, lipliner; and brushes).

The bottom shelf contains everything I showcased in my post - 'How To: Get White Teeth'. Plus floss, of course. you'll also see contact lens solution (and case), Eyedew eye drops and The Body Shop tea tree blemish gel stick. I so rarely get spots now but I like to keep one of these sticks as a security blanket because I know that it works.

What now? Drop me a comment and tell me... How do you store your skincare products and everyday essentials? You can also follow me on bloglovin', tweet me or enter my giveaway.

  3. Your cupboard looks so well organised. I have a cupboard under my sink with all my "bathroom" products and my non-bathroom ones are in my bedside cabinet. I had a big clear-out over Christmas and it was really satisfying to discover just how many products I had (definitely don't need to do a Boots shop for a long time). x

  9. This is really great. Sadly in my flat the mirror is the length of the wall and there's a shelf at the bottom of it were all my guys stuff and mine are cluttered on it I really hate it, it looks so ugly and messy! I wish we had something different. I'm using a tower of wicker baskets as a storage solution and I don't like that either! Lol.

  10. The cabinet is lovely! I wish I could do whatever I want to my flat, paint it, fix things to the wall etc. But unfortunately I can't because I'm renting it, such a shame!

Ikea is such a fab place! I love the storage solution for the cotton pads and buds too, definitely going to give that a go :) xo

  11. ^ Jess - my flat is rented too and I didn't ask their permission to install the cabinet but I figure I can take it down and fill in the wholes/paint white over quite easily. x

  12. Aaah your bathroom cabinet is so organised! I'd love to be more organised, I have no storage system in my bathroom, it's a complete shambles at the moment! Definitely taking some tips from the master ;) My products are mostly on my shelf and in wicker baskets from TK Maxx (: xx

  14. That's a great idea for the cotton wool pads! Do you rent your house? Does your landlord let you put things on the wall? I am thinking of renting but this puts me off!

  15. This is very organised! I like it a lot, usually my products are scattered across my bedroom and bathroom and I can never find them! I guess living in a student house doesn't really help this though...! xxx

  19. Great post, I would love one of these. Our bathroom cabinet is about a third of the size of this one and the shelfs can't be moved so it can only be used for small items. Most lot of my products are under the sink or in a drawer in my bedroom.

  20. The cabinet is such a good idea, everything looks so neat and organized. My stuff is currently in a wooden tray but everythings just piled on top of each other so it can get quite messy x
