Make Up Academy Lipstick: Shade 3

Hey girls! Thank you for all the great comments left on yesterday's post and apologies that I haven't had chance to reply individually to each one. Just a quick review today, but I'll be back tomorrow with 'Things I Love Thursday' and a pretty sweet give-away!!!

Some of you will remember when I raved about Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick range. Soft Coral (600) has been my go-to shade for quite some time. I usually prefer a subtle lip and pay more attention to my eyes. Recently, I've been hankering after a hot pink. You know, something that makes a statement. I didn't fancy Mac prices as no doubt this type of shade is something I'll wear infrequently - on the occasional night out with the girls. So, I stumbled across Superdrug's Make Up Academy range (all items £1 each!) and purchased Shade 3 which, at first glance, seemed like it might fit what i was looking for.

This is a super girly, highly pigmented, hot pink. The colour is buildable so you can definitely achieve a more subtle colour if you choose. The product tends to bleed over your lip line but after playing around with it I found that using a neutral lip liner before application easily solves that problem.

I think it's a gorgeous colour but it needs to be applied over a perfectly moisturised and primed base. I love that it lasts so long and almost stains your lips (in a good way!). The price is insane. £1? Really?! I'm intrigued enough to try out some more shades and I'm positive another one or two of these will find their way into my basket next time I visit superdrug.

Verdict: well worth the money!

If this has sparked your interest somewhat then check back tomorrow. I'll be hosting a new give-away and two MUA lipsticks form part of the bundle! This give-away will be open to subscribers only - if you want to subscribe hit the 'follow' button in the left sidebar!

  14. I've always loved colours like this, I thing they go great with a simple winged eye, especially if wearing a black dress. That is insane for the price, what's a good lip primer, I'm going to go see if you've reviewed one. Xxxx

  15. Hi Gem, I haven't tried any lip primers as such but if you're just careful to maybe brush any dead skin away (yuck! sorry!) with your toothbrush and then moisture well with vaseline 30 mins before applying then that's kind of what I mean by priming (on the cheap!). There are obviously primers on the market but that kind of product is a bit of a luxury! xxx

  16. I love their makeup! Way too good for £1, (not that I'm complaining!) I adore the liquid eyeliners.
