The Little Things

Quick update: My latest give-away ends tomorrow so if you haven't already entered go enter now! I feel like I haven't done a product review in forever and it's simply because the light is too poor to take photographs inside. Roll on spring. I'm going to give it another shot today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I love doing reviews and get such a great response when I do. Finally, I decided to open up the blog to sponsorship. I originally stated this would start from 1st March but as I've had a few requests this will start from 1st February. If you have a blog, Etsy store or small business then there's still time to sponsor me for Feb. You'll find everything you need to know right HERE.

...

I was clearing out my desktop yesterday and came across this in a Word document I must have saved sometime last year. I have no idea where it came from so I can't credit. Doesn't it give you the chills?

The head of a company survived 9/11 because
His son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn’t go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.

One of them
Missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.

One’s
Car wouldn’t start.

One couldn’t
Get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man
Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to work but before.
He got there, he developed a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today..

Now when I am
Stuck in traffic,
Miss an elevator,
Turn back to answer a ringing telephone…
All the little things that annoy me,
I think to myself,

This is exactly where
I’m meant to be
At this very moment

  11. It's sometimes horrendous to look back on things and think 'what if'?!

  12. This is wonderful. It reminds me of the film 'Remember me' a bit - that whole idea of wrong place at the wrong time. So sad really. xo

  17. To me this just shows everything happens for a reason. These people weren't meant to be there. I couldn't begin to imagine how those people felt.

    Nic - Definitely fate.

  24. Amazing... I love this.

My cousin worked at the WTC but was running late for work that day, thankfully. It's incredible how timing works.

  25. to everyone who says those people were meant to not go to the WTC that morning, what do you have to say about those who were in the buildings at that time? were they meant to die at the hands of a delusional terrorist?

i see no beauty in the idea that fate can save a handful of people and yet allow a thousand others to die a horrible death.

  26. Anon - you are absolutely correct. When you look at it from that point of view I completely agree with you. I just think people will always feel thankful when 'fate' steps in a positive way to save a person's life.

  27. the first and fifth stanza are my dad. my sister didn't want to get to school early...so he went around the block one more time and missed his train.

  28. That is the most inspirational thing I have ever read.
I will never again complain about being in a queue or anything like that, as it is where I am meant to be.

  29. This made me think, a lot.
Just got done watching the movie Remember Me and if he didn't take his daughter to school that one and only day he would have been in one of those buildings with his son.
so inspirational, it makes me thankful to be alive and live the life i live.
    every second is precious time.

  30. I was going to pick up my boyfriend from work in an area I wasn't familiar with and I knew I was going to have to wait for a minute for him to call and give me directions. As I passed the car wash I had a strong urge to turn around and wash my car, but decided against it.
I didn't see a stop sign after I rounded a turn because I was too busy trying to figure out why my directions didn't match what I was looking at and I got into a car accident. I wasn't injured and neither was the other driver but my lovely car was totaled.
Next time I'll wash my car. :)

  32. This is very true.
Since I was little I used to hear from my grandma "Who knows why that's good"! You can never know why something that bothers you or makes you upset is good. for some reason all is meant to be, at least I and my family believe so.

  33. Like you said, it gave me the chills but really made me think about complaining less. It's strange.

  34. My favorite author was too lazy to wake up early in the morning for that flight... :)
