I've got a few interesting product reviews coming this week as well as the bedside cabinet makeover tutorial so many of you asked for. I'll also be sharing all the details about my new filofax and after much experimentation with various different recipes I may have found the perfect cookie recipe which you'll have to try out for yourself! yum yum. By the way, my bedside cabinet project was featured over on holly's blog: in the fun lane today! go check it out, and whilst you're there get further inspiration from all the other examples of creativity!
Now on to today's post. I have a love~hate relationship with tattoos. I hate nasty tattoos on chavy girls but I LOVE tasteful, artistic tattoos. I've been so close to getting one many times before but always bottle out before a fixed arrangement is made with the tattoo artist. I have an idea of something incredibly meaningful but don't want to live with regret having marked my body for life. On the other hand, part of me wants to mark myself almost in a shout out to the world that "yes, my body is marked, and therefore not 'perfect' and many people may not approve of how it looks but I embrace that because I am my own person and so much more than just my outward appearance". Or something like that.
Make sense? Or not? It's quite likely that I've been going through some kind of quarter life crisis, which is probably the main reason that I should hold off on the whole tattoo thing for the time being. But that doesn't stop me looking at pretty pictures...

Do you have a tattoo? What is it and where on your body? Are you happy with your decision or do you live with regret? Leave a comment and tell all!
Have a wonderful weekend girls!
♥
I have a tattoo on my wrist that says "believe" to remind me to have belief in myself and what i do, i've never been a confident person but slowly i'm overcoming it and i wanted something to remind myself of that fact. I have no regrets about it at all :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention on twitter too!
Stacey xx
^ you're welcome. Oh, I love that for a tattoo. Absolutely love the sentiment. Beautiful x
ReplyDeleteoh those tattoos are beautiful.i would love to have some swallows, but they look painful on miami ink!hehe :)xxx
ReplyDeleteI have a pink bow on my right wrist and a heart lock on my left wrist to which my boyfriend has the matching key. They're quite addictive once you have one you'll want more! X
ReplyDeletei just got my 1st on Tuesday click here: http://sassyagapi.blogspot.com/2010/08/tattoo.html to see it!
ReplyDeleteI love the μητέρα(mother) & πατέρας(father) on her feet, my tatt is in Greek as well.
I have three tattoos - a red rose on my hip I had done in the nastiest tattoo parlour when I was 15, a black floral design on my inner left wrist and a nautical star and swirl design running right across my right foot that I designed myself. I don't regret any of them, I couldn't imagine not having them now. I think custom is the way to go to avoid the chavtastic look! I'm planning another couple at least!
ReplyDeleteI have three. My first was the obligatory starsign tattoo but a completely different design to the usual you'd see. Then I have a symbol from alchemy on my wrist (shhhh it's a secret meaning though) and my favourite is the writing on my foot which says "Think of a wonderful thought" I love them and a currently craving a new one either on the back of my neck or on my other wrist
ReplyDeleteT x
I have three and plans to have more. I have a dolphin on my back that maybe one day I'll get covered up. I still quite like it as I was sensible and chose something slightly different, but I had it when I was 17 and it's not something I would choose now. I have two tribal geckos on my hip and my most recent is a swallow on my right wrist which I really love. To me it means freedom and commitment to family and friends, however a swallow can mean you've done time :D which I haven't by the way!
ReplyDeleteSo want one like the first let it be one! I really want one on my side but too scared!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! I have one, and my second one has been designed. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_dN9NqnbVero/TGnkqQSGrYI/AAAAAAAAAh4/-Fs6S-673uI/s400/DSC005332.jpg
ReplyDeleteThat last tattoo is my favourite out of those.
ReplyDeleteI have a music note tattooed behind my ear. Music is a big deal to me so I guess that one's pretty self explanatory. Plus I got it at the same time my mum had her first tattoo as well so that means a lot to me. I love it but if I ever start regret having it done, well, I can't see it! And it's pretty easy to keep hidden. The only person who has ever noticed it (that I haven't purposely shown it to) is my hairdresser, haha.
I know I want more but it probably won't be for a long time as I have no idea what I want. I'd love a half sleeve though.
i like the 1st bow tattoo mainly it's pretty & not too over the top. i've no tattoos myself n that's cuz i've got a really LOW tolerance for even the slightest bit of pain! >_<
ReplyDeleteI have 9 tattoos, and there is only one that I am unsure of. It's not that I think I made a bad decision, it is more that I am disappointed in the artist, he didn't give me ANY guidance, did not add any of his own personal artistic flair, nothing. He didn't do a very good job with the color, it has no depth to it, so I am planning on a cover-up piece for it. If you'd like to see them check out my blog post dedicated to them, with pictures and a brief description of why I got them:

2nd pic : saira hunjan !!! <3 <3 <3 she's the best. fuck the rest.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 tattoos, 2 of them being swallows on my chest which I certainly do not regret - I fall in love with them again every single day. Getting inspired and looking at whats out there is a good idea before you decide to get one done. my first was a love heart locket and key, and although I love the idea and the design, the girl didnt do a great job of it and I had to get it relined and coloured in a year later! I also have "irie' added below the locket and an anchor on my left inner ankle and a diamond of the other. They certainly are addictive :) xx
ReplyDeleteoh i love that last one! bright eyes <3 i've never really wanted a tattoo bt i admire them from afar.
ReplyDeletei have 2 tattoos and want many more.
ReplyDeleteMy first is an anchor which me and my BFF got done together
and my 2nd is a CND sign
you can see them here: http://cowbiscuits.blogspot.com/2010/06/first-post.html
xx
I have a bow on my wrist, deep down I wish it had been more refined or a tiny bit smaller, but hey it's pretty, just wish it was more dainty xxx
ReplyDeleteHelloo; I'm a new follower. I can't see myself getting a tattoo 1.The pain-I'm the biggest wimp ever!, 2.It's a massive decision. Although I am fascinated by them, but I actually like very few.
ReplyDeleteGive me a follow back?
http://madisonsassortment.blogspot.com/ xo
love the let it be tattoo with the birds & on the ribs as well! I dont have any tatts but would love to have some like sakura (to mark my time in Japan - best times ever) but doesn't have the guts!
ReplyDeleteWow, these all sound so amazing!! Great comments girlies xx
ReplyDeleteI love the "let it be" one (:
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
Hey! i didn't see this post before, but if you're interested, i just did a post myself on my tattoo (i actually used the first tattoo pic you have up!!!).
ReplyDeleteIt's about how i got my bow tattoos done and am not happy :-(
Have a read if you're interested.
You have a great blog, by the way ;-)
xxx
@Princessbelle - just having a read now!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! x
I am a new reader and totally loving your blog! As you can see I am going back in to the archives :)
ReplyDeleteSo far I have 3 tattoos. I say 'so far' because it's true what they say, it's hard to stop at just 1!
I have 1 on my foot (this one hurt the most) and 2 running down either side of my body, from waist down to hip. I've got flowers, an anchor and heart, and pocket watch and hummingbird. I don't regret any of them, they're all so pretty.
I say bite the bullet, if your idea is meaningful to you then you wont regret it :)
i'm having the same should i/shouldn't i argument with myself - i actually came across this post because i was searching for ideas and images of a tattoo with a specific phrase that means something to me on lots of different levels, and i love it right now but i don't want to look back and think it's really pretentious when i'm older...
ReplyDeleteanyway, just wanted to say i love your blog and all the lists etc. you have up here, especially your goals - i'm trying to do something similar with 2011, so thanks for the inspiration, i might actually achieve some of the things i plan to do now! :)
I have two tattoos, one on my ankle which is a celtic knot that means inner strength because i used to cut and i was able to stop and get over it by using inner strength, the second one is not complete yet so far i have a skeleton key on my shoulder that will eventually say there are no closed doors in cursive down the side of the key, basically meaning that no matter what obstacles/closed doors i encounter i have the tools to overcome/open them :)
ReplyDeleteI have four, the most recent of which I got just two weeks ago! The Chinese character for family on my hip (my first, when I was 18), the logo for the Four Diamonds Fund (a philanthropy I've been heavily involved in for years) on my foot, the first line of the Irish blessing in Irish on my right shoulder, and the tree of life on my left ribcage. Don't regret any, although I wish the Chinese character coordinated better with the rest. Love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteFirst tattoo - I got it on my side so it's completely covered by a shirt. I love it because I feel like it is just for me :)
ReplyDeleteIt says "If we only look down there will never be stars" My favorite quote
I have believe on my Left Shoulder, but when i achieve what i want to do with my life, i'm going to get achieve on my right shoulder. I don't regret it at all. i love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a tattoo on the my hip. To anyone who sees it it just looks like some music notes, one star and a couple of spirally twists and lines. But I know what it really means. The music notes are notes that I got from piano sheet music, and are actually a particular line from a song that reminds me of my aunt who passed away last year. And the star is another tribute to my aunt, because now she's the brightest star in the sky. It took me three years to decide on what exactly it was that I wanted, and I've gone from names to hearts to dolphins to music notes. I think tattooes make the skin look 'lived in' if you get me. Every tattoo is a memory of where you were in life and how you felt at that time. I don't think they should be regretted unless they were badly done, but at the same time I think differently from others.I live without regreting anything, because I believe life is too short. My advice is if you want a tattoo think long and hard. Don't let the 'pain' of getting a tattoo affect your decision, because in all honestly it's not painful.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about a tattoo though is the memories. Because even thoguh in 30 years time when my aunt is gone 31 years, anytime I'll look at my tattoo I'll remember her again. Like I always do whenever I see it. <3
I have a Carpe Diem (meaning seize the day) on my left wrist. Some people may think that it's cliche but after losing my cousin and a close friend two summers ago I wanted to get it as a reminder that life is short & to live everyday to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteI don't regret it one bit, and hope to get more soon! :)
All these pictures are incredible!
Totally agree, one of my friends wants a tatoo just because she's allowed one, she's turned 16. But she has no special meaning and I think why mark yourself forever unless its oh-so special.
ReplyDeleteGahh! I'm confused too (obviously not getting one yet since I'm not old enough :/ ) but I wouldn't know what to get etc.!
But thank you for the inspiration!
