hello gorgeous girls! how are you all today? to be honest, i struggle with the start of the week. i love my weekends and find monday and tuesday a drag. obviously, i'm not in a job i absolutely love but i'm working on that and hope things will change in due course. i have a review of an a-maz-ing product for you today - a product that cheers me up even on a monday morning!
bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base £33.50 (50ml)

as with all bobbi brown products the packaging is sophisticated and great to look at. i love the prestigious 'B' emblem on the black lid which makes the product look extra special on my bathroom shelf. the jar is made of glass which is lovely but my bathroom has a tiled floor so i'm really scared of dropping it - i'm not sure how easily it would smash?
this face base is a shea butter based moisturiser and make up primer in one. i've been using it in the morning before applying foundation. before bed i still use philosophy hope in a jar as my night cream. i really like how my routine is shaping up. unfortunately it doesn't contain SPF but i already have a high quality sun protection lotion (review coming soon) i use beforehand so that's not a problem for me.
first a lowdown on the 'vitamin enriched' aspect of this cream. vitamin C and E help protect against environmental damage (i've read countless times that any great moisturiser will contain vitamin E). carrot extract and vitamin A work to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. face base smells absolutely divine, so much so that i look forward to opening the jar in the morning. according to the bobbi brown web site it is the geranium and grapefruit fragrances that create this scent - noticeable but definitely not overpowering. i find that the scent dissipates once the cream has been absorbed.
the beauty of this cream and what makes it perfect for me (combination skin - oily t zone, dry elsewhere) is that it's oil free so great on my t-zone whilst the shea butter still makes it incredibly nourishing to the dryer parts of my face. i've never found a cream that literally does it all and i really couldn't ask for anything more than what bobbi brown has given me in this product. i'm not sure how a cream can work so well on combination skin but it really does.
i've been using this for 10 days and haven't had a single breakout. my skin feels soft and smooth, which has allowed me to apply my foundation quickly and easily with my mac 187 brush. AND foundation lasts much longer.
positives:
smells divine
2 products in one (primer and moisturiser)
vastly improves the application of foundation
good for combination skin/most skin types
oil free ~ not greasy ~ absorbs easily
need less foundation
a little bit goes a long way
negatives:
no SPF
pricey (BUT consider that you get 2 products in 1, plus use less foundation)
{ if you missed my review of the bobbi brown foundation stick you can read that HERE. my verdict on the bobbi brown extra repair eye cream will be posted soon enough. }
rating = 9/10 (lack of SPF loses it 1 point but i will definitely buy again)
♥

Oh, I'm so excited to have come accross your blog! It will take me hours to have a browse through it all :) I have been struggling to find good face creams which are oil free and that are moisturizing enough for the dry areas on my skin so this sounds great. It is pricey though, may start saving up to treat myself!! x
