Waterproof Mascaras Reviewed

today i wanted to review the mascaras that i currently have in my rotation. i only ever buy waterproof mascara because when i use normal formulations i always end up with 'panda eyes' and that's never a good look. i've been using inexpensive mascaras for quite some time and believe that you can find options that rival premium brands, provided you do your research.

max factor false lash effect waterproof mascara £10.75 shipped

i purchased this a few months ago and really disliked it. i picked it up again last week and have been addicted ever since. perhaps the consistency is better for me once it has dried out a little? i've been using it every day for the last 10 days and love it. it really does do what it says on the tube - full lashes, natural look. no clumping! i have sparse eyelashes but still get a good effect, so if you already have reasonably full lashes then i think you'll be amazed with the result.

you see how the brush is noticeably larger than the others in this post? it's the brush size that helps create the volume.

the only negative is that it's quite stubborn to remove compared to other waterproof mascara, even when using my holy grail eye make up remover.

rating = 9/10
(will buy again)

no. 7 extreme length waterproof mascara £12.00

i bought this with one of those boots £5 off vouchers that often get handed out at the till. this brought the price down to a much more reasonable £7.00. notice how thin and long the brush is? this mascara is definitely not for volume (although it doesn't claim to be, so that's ok!) but it's great at separating and lengthening lashes. i love this for a natural, but flirty, daytime look and always wear this one to the gym.

this formulation never smudges and stays put through sweat, tears and rain. extra points for the fact that it's fairly easy to remove - another reason why i love it for everyday wear. i think this would make a pretty much perfect mascara for most women for work, school or college, where dramatic volume is not desired.

rating = 9/10 (will buy again)

maybelline define a lash volume waterproof mascara £8.99

a mascara that defines and volumises? perfect, surely? well, yes, it is almost perfect. but there's something about it that i don't quite love. i expect it's one of the best in it's price range but i like the max factor falsh lash effect much more.

rating = 7/10 (doubt i'll buy again!)

  1. These mascara's look really promising! My favorite mascara is L'Oreal Telescopic cause it gives loads of volume and length! Layered with Lashblast it gives the false lash effect!

  7. I love love love Define-A-Lash, the brush really agrees with me and so far it's almost holy grail material. Sad to see that you didn't like it that much :(

  8. Revlon Grow Luscious and covergirl lashblast are the two that I use. so far, i haven't grown any new lashes, as promised by the revlon one, but that doesn't bother me. I love the effect I get from the two combined. :)
