Mac 187 Duo Fibre Brush Review

I'm sure you're all sick and tired of reading about the Mac 187 Duo Fibre brush. but I really can't help but mention it. Retailing at £29.50 this isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it's easily the best beauty investment I ever made.

What does Mac say?

The Mac 187 Duo Fibre brush is a large full circular brush used for lightweight application and blending of face powder or pigments. Use to create soft layers or add textures. Made from a soft blend of goat and synthetic fibres.

What do I say?

My primary use for this brush is in the application of liquid foundation. I squirt foundation onto the back of my hand and then use the brush to stipple the liquid on a little at a time until the desired coverage is achieved. The result is a flawless 'airbrushed' effect - natural; no streaks; perfectly blended. Using this method, I find that I use less foundation and get a perfect finish. And when i say 'perfect', I really mean perfect. If you need a visual, check out this YouTube video and fast forward to 2:05. amazing!

Once I'm done I set with face powder and then revert back to the Mac 187 to apply my blush. Again, I apply the product by stippling, concentrating on the apples of my cheeks and blending to perfection.

And how do I clean my Mac 187?

If you've been following my quest for clear skin you won't be surprised to learn that I'm a little obsessive over keeping this brush clean. I don't use expensive brush cleaners. I've been using this for over a year...

Yes, it's true. I clean my make-up brushes with 99p anti-bacterial handwash. Shoot me.

One squirt in the palm of your hand, lather with warm water, clean the brush against your hand and you're done. Easy peasy. I usually clean my Mac 187 after every use.

So, ladies, are you already a fan of the Mac 187 Duo Fibre brush? If you don't use this, how do you apply your foundation? Leave a comment and tell all!Justify Full

  3. I was going to get this the other day but didn't know if it would be dense enough to apply foundation so i went for the smaller size 130 which is pretty decent, takes a while to do the whole face though lol

  6. Hi!
Just found your blog by googling how to clean my mac 187, which i bought just the other day! Since it's in both goat and synthetic fibres I was a bit confused about how to clean it.

I found out about the brush (don't have a lot of mac stores in sweden) on EnKores youtube channel - and fell in love! So I apply my liquid foundation by using the stipple and swirl technique ( http://www.youtube.com/user/EnKoreMakeup#p/u/3/-omb37lIGiQ ). Tried it for the first time today and the result was incredible!

  7. easy trick to safe the lettering from coming off: put a thin coat of clear nailpolish over top. it's almost invisible and will last forever.
    i hope this helped you
