How To: Get White Teeth

What would be better than learning how to get white teeth? Learning how to get white teeth for less than £10 would surely be better?! We can't all afford professional zoom whitening. But I've found a great alternative. I'm far from perfect but one thing my friends often comment on is my pearly whites. Considering I'm now closer to age 30 than 20 (and have a slight penchant for red wine and coffee!) I have super white teeth.

I randomly stumbled upon this routine last year (simply by trialing a bunch of products) and I hope you'll agree that it's a routine worth sharing. For less than £10 i think anybody will see an improvement in the appearance of their teeth.

I'm going to assume you already have an electric toothbrush like this:

If you don't have one, I urge you to get one. Put it on your Christmas list. Watch out for offers. Boots.com and the major supermarkets often sell electric toothbrushes at half price. I personally wouldn't pay more than £15. Over the past six years I've purchased two at that price - the first one lasted three years and I'm still using the second one.

I clean my teeth at least twice a day; morning and night. If I'm going out in the evening i also clean them after my dinner, before i head out. The first step in the routine is Colgate Max White toothpaste (£2.09 a tube, often sold on BOGOF). I've compared this to several other whitening toothpastes (including Colgate Advanced White) and feel that this is the best of the lot. Using this with an electric toothbrush for 3 minutes twice a day is a great starting point.

Next up, step two: Pearl Drops Hollywood Smile Whitening toothpaste £4.89

This has a strange, almost runny consistency which makes it a little different to regular toothpaste. I wouldn't use it on it's own to clean my teeth - I use it after I've used the Colgate Max White. It contains tiny granules which remove stains. I've re-purchased several times and reckon it gives me noticeably whiter teeth. I usually use it for around three weeks and then I take a break from it for a while. I must say that I hate the packaging. The paste is runny and the container is upright so the paste leaks out into the cap - the result is a gross mess!

The manufacturer promises your teeth will be 2 shades lighter in 3 weeks and actually offer a full money back guarantee. So, keep your receipt and if it doesn't work out for you just return the product for a refund.

The final product in my routine is Listerine Stay White Mouthwash £3.69.

I swirl half a cap full around my mouth after I've completed step one and two. I've compared this against several other mouthwashes and am convinced this is effective at keeping teeth white! I wouldn't consider another mouthwash after trying this one. I have repurchased several times.

Quick recap:

Colgate Max White toothpaste £2.09
Pearl Drops Hollywood Smile kit £4.69
Listerine Stay White mouthwash £3.69

Total = £10.47 for noticeably whiter teeth within 3 weeks. Boots.com are offering 3 for 2 on dental products so the Colgate Max White would be free, bringing the cost down. And no, this is not a sponsored post. I just like these products. and I just like Boots.com.

What is your dental routine? Do you have white teeth? Would you consider having your teeth professionally whitened? Leave a comment and do tell all!

  1. hehe i think its funny that the whiting chart that comes with it looks like all off white colors, like theres no white option on it. :P its probably just the lighting though.

  2. I don't think anyone's teeth are supposed to actually be WHITE. The lightest colours on the chart are a light cream, I guess. White looks a little harsh/fake. This routine gets your teeth to a natural, clean, unstained colour :)

  3. yes your right! I've been told your teeth color should never be whiter then your eyes. Even though a lot of people don't follow that, it looks so weird. o_o I'm lazy with my teeth right now. :/ Your teeth must be amazing looking with that routine, i need to do this. :)

  5. Hey, I just came across your blog on a google search whilst looking for reviews on Peal Drops. I already have 2 of the things that I will need for this (just missing an electric toothbrush and Peal Drops), but this is something I will definitely try. Thanks for the tips! I've looked around your blog a little, and I like it so far.

PS: Nice name (Sofia) hehe :)
