Benefit Coralista Review

I've heard so many rave reviews about Benefit Coralista that I had to try it out for myself to see what all the hype was about. Have you tried it yet?

Benefit 'Coralista' blush // retail price £23.50

First of all; the packaging. I love the quirky, fun design that benefit products always offer and this is no exception. It's colourful, glamourous and funky. The negatives - it's essentially a cardboard box, so if you get this near water or are otherwise heavy handed with it then it'll be easily damaged, potentially wrecking the contents. Also, the 'Coralista' branding on the top of the box is a sticker - mine has already started to come away at the edges.

The flaws I just pointed out aren't a particularly big deal for me as I keep everything neat and tidy in a seagrass box at home and don't tend to take blush out in my handbag. If you like portability in a blush then the packaging means this might not be the one for you.

A brush is provided but I don't think most people would choose to use it. I prefer a bigger brush for this type of product. In the box, the product looks a very highly pigmented coral pink so Iwas expecting an obvious pop of colour on the first application. That wasn't so. I found that I needed to apply quite a lot to build the colour to a noticeable level. However, the 'glow' or 'sheen' is obvious immediately and I think this is what makes 'Coralista' unique from other blushes.

When using 'Coralista' I find that I need to put in the effort to create a perfect base. I always use a good primer and foundation. If I don't do so, this blush highlights and magnifies pores. Consequently, I wouldn't recommend you use this on a baseless face, unless your skin is naturally flawless.

'Coralista' is marketed as suitable for all skin tones. I would say that this is accurate. Having played around with it for a few weeks I now use it more as a highlighter over other blushes. I apply another blush for colour and sweep 'Coralista' over with a huge brush for a highlighting effect. it makes you literally glisten and glow! You'll look super healthy - a similar result to Benefit high beam but with far less hassle. It looks phenomenal in photographs!

I can't rave about this as much as others have. I was left slightly unsatisfied and I can't quite pinpoint why. I think the price tag is too high for the result I got. I still need to use another blush with it which sort of defeats the object. The reason I use another blush is because if I build colour with 'Coralista' to the desired effect I get TOO MUCH glow. I don't think it's worth the price and I believe that there are better options out there. Your view on this may differ depending on your skin tone and your personal expectations of a blusher.

I definitely recommend you try it out at the counter first to see if you like the effect rather than buying online. That way, you won't be disappointed to waste a huge chunk of money if you don't love the effect.

Overall rating = 6/10

  1. i also enjoy how it smells. it doesn't have that weird makeup scent. plus, if i combine it with high beam, it looks fantastic. i agree with the price being too high, though. especially since the packaging is so fragile.

  3. I am a pretty big fan of Benefit, I really like their "Dandelion" and "Georgia Peach" blushes, they have great scents but go on really similarly since they are both so so light.
I haven't tried Coralista yet, the costs do make it a bit discouraging to just buy and try them all out. They are pretty pricey for how similar they go on since they are all pretty sheer.
I love Alecto's idea of combining them with the High Beam, I am going to have to try that out!
